A couple of weeks ago Asif and I went to see a film in Westfield Stratford and decided to get some food. I fancied trying out The Real Greek as I liked the sound of their menu. The restaurant itself is airy and rustic looking, with seating available outside.
We opted for a table indoors and chose the Greek flatbread with olive oil and dukkah - a spicy mix of ground, dry roasted nuts and seeds. To get the full effect you dip the flatbreads in the olive oil followed by the dukkah, which we loved. It was quite fresh and tasty, I liked the taste.
We followed this with the souvlaki for two which contained Greek wraps, like kebabs using meat, Cypriot halloumi and chicken. They were halved and served with a Greek feta salad and a lahanosalata.
The wraps were yum, we had a half of each one each, and I liked the mix of meat/ halloumi and salad and sauce.
The salad had tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, Greek olives, red onion, feta and olive oil. The lahanosalata was a Greek coleslaw with white cabbage, fennel, dill and a creamy sultana sauce. It was a little bland and drier than I usually like my coleslaw to be, but I did like the taste of it.
Overall, we liked our meal, but I came out feeling like I had just had upmarket kebabs and wraps. I would definitely go back as there were lots more tasty looking dishes on the menu and I would love to try something different next time around.
