Bersham Heritage Centre

Last weekend me and Asif were in Wrexham, and as I mentioned in my last post we went for a bit of a wander in the village near where I live. It was unplanned and we only planned to go for a walk down the road, having only taken our phones with us, but got caught up in the scenery in Bersham, next to where I had grown up, but Asif had never visited.
As we wandered we went past the Bersham Heritage Centre and Museum, and as Asif is a fan of anything old with some history behind it I knew he would love it. He was like a kid in a playground.

I grew up visiting the museum in school and the ironworks, since it was local history. was the basis of many of our history lessons. Bersham is the home of the ironworks dating back to the 17th century. It is where John Wilkinson made canons for the American War of Independence, and cylinders for James Watt's steam engines.

The museum is free, and definitely worth a look if you are passing through the area. Inside there are lots of educational facilities, and me and Asif had a wander into one of the old classrooms. Asif really liked the tall desks and wants me to get one for him. If anyone has any ideas where I can get one from let me know!
